From the desk of Coaches Bendahan and Chu

Congratulations to the intermediate boys basketball team for one of the most memorable seasons in German Mills history. The boys went undefeated during the regular season outplaying some very formidable opponents. The team was placed in the most difficult pool to start the area tournament last wednesday and managed to finish 1st place in a thrilling triple overtime victory over Rosedale that had all the ingredients off an instant classic. With the first place finish, the boys advanced to the finals on Friday. Once again, they came to play and went undefeated through the round robin and semi finals. Although they couldn’t push past Willowbrook to win the Championship, this 2nd place finish out of 13 VERY competitive teams will establish the 2016-2017 boys basketball teams as one of the best in German Mills history. I (Coach Bendahan) could not have been more proud of this team and how they consistently dug deep to overcome the challenges presented them throughout the season and tournament. This amazing journey as a team, the bond that we formed, the lessons we learned and the memories we made are worth way more than any banner. Let me hear hear you say it one more time… 1-2-3… MAVERICKS!

The intermediate girls basketball team had a great season this year. The goal was to make it to the area finals and a memorable semi-final win meant that our goal would be achieved. On February 23, we traveled to the Woodland P.S. to compete in the area finals. The team represented German Mills extremely well, playing with a lot of of heart, showing great team spirit and having lots of fun in the process. Throughout the entire season, the girls worked hard in practice to get better and better. More importantly, the girls always cheered each other on, regardless of the score during the games and always made sure to have fun. The team finished 5th for our area and accomplished a lot this season. Good job girls!  GO MAVS!!

Congratulations MAVERICKS!

Go Mavericks!  Last week was an incredible week for our GMPS Mavs Basketball Teams.   .  With determination and hard work throughout the season, both our Intermediate Boys and Girls teams were prepared for everything they faced!  In the Area tournaments we finished in top spots and advanced to the Area Finals.  There was steep competition at both tournaments but they persevered and played thier hearts out!  Our Intermediate Girls team came home with a strong finish of 5th overall.  Our Intermediate Boys team came home with another strong finish of 2nd overall.

We are SO PROUD!  GO MAVERICKS!  Pictures and more details to follow.

Report Cards

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Today our Term One Report Cards are coming home.  Your child(ren) worked very hard over the last number of months to learn and grow and try new things.  Please take time to read the report card – focusing on the growth and accomplishments first – and then on the areas that need further growth.  Remember that there is something in every report card to be celebrated and proud of.  The report card is also to be used as feedback to inform next steps in the learning journey.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the Teacher(s) you are interested in speaking with, and set up a time to meet in person or on the phone.

At GMPS our Touchstone says ‘We are confident and strive to do our best’ and this time of year is a great time to reflect on if we have achieved that and what we can do to continue to strive to do our best in Term Two.
