From the desk of Coaches Bendahan and Chu

Congratulations to the intermediate boys basketball team for one of the most memorable seasons in German Mills history. The boys went undefeated during the regular season outplaying some very formidable opponents. The team was placed in the most difficult pool to start the area tournament last wednesday and managed to finish 1st place in a thrilling triple overtime victory over Rosedale that had all the ingredients off an instant classic. With the first place finish, the boys advanced to the finals on Friday. Once again, they came to play and went undefeated through the round robin and semi finals. Although they couldn’t push past Willowbrook to win the Championship, this 2nd place finish out of 13 VERY competitive teams will establish the 2016-2017 boys basketball teams as one of the best in German Mills history. I (Coach Bendahan) could not have been more proud of this team and how they consistently dug deep to overcome the challenges presented them throughout the season and tournament. This amazing journey as a team, the bond that we formed, the lessons we learned and the memories we made are worth way more than any banner. Let me hear hear you say it one more time… 1-2-3… MAVERICKS!

The intermediate girls basketball team had a great season this year. The goal was to make it to the area finals and a memorable semi-final win meant that our goal would be achieved. On February 23, we traveled to the Woodland P.S. to compete in the area finals. The team represented German Mills extremely well, playing with a lot of of heart, showing great team spirit and having lots of fun in the process. Throughout the entire season, the girls worked hard in practice to get better and better. More importantly, the girls always cheered each other on, regardless of the score during the games and always made sure to have fun. The team finished 5th for our area and accomplished a lot this season. Good job girls!  GO MAVS!!
