We clean up nicely!
Hello GMPS Families!
Thank you to those of you who have already pre-ordered agendas for the next school year. We recommend that every student from Grade 1 to Grade 8 use an agenda as a helpful tool to record homework and communication with the teacher.
The deadline has been extended – if you are interested in purchasing an agenda for next year, please place your orders online. There is a flyer attached also, for your reference.
The agendas will be distributed on the first day of school, and will NOT be available to order in September.
Thanks very much!
Hi Everyone! Just a few helpful details to answer the questions you might have about this week.
Tomorrow is Grade 8 Graduation. Tickets have been sent home. Grads are to arrive for 5:00 to Thornhill GCC and the ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be an opportunity for pictures and to have punch after the ceremony and we have someone coming to take pictures during the ceremony so that parents can watch instead of worrying about getting the pictures. No jeans allowed.
- Mr. Sub will be delivered tomorrow
- Milk will be delivered Tuesday and Thursday
- There is NO PIZZA
REPORT CARDS will go home on Wednesday at the end of the day. If you are leaving before that time, reports will be available in the office for pick up next week or the last week of August. Teacher names for next year will be on the report cards. There are still a few teachers to be hired for next year, so that information will be blogged out as it is ready. We do not take requests for class placements and the staff have worked incredibly hard to match students appropriately for many many reasons. There is a letter from the Principal included with the report cards as well as a variety of other inserts.
PLAY DAY – Primary Play Day is scheduled for tomorrow, so please send your child ready to be outside and active. Rain plans are also being made.
Grade 7 Introductions – the Grade 6’s from Bayview Glen are coming tomorrow to do some team building and getting to know you activities with the GMPS Grade 6’s. This will ease everyone’s transition for next year.
EARLY DISMISSAL is Thursday at 12:00. Please make sure that you pick up your children by that time or that you have alternate arrangements made. Staff will be unavailable to supervise as we have a meeting beginning promptly afterwards.
CHARACTER MATTERS – our Final Assembly is Wednesday at 10:00a.m. If your child is getting a certificate, notes will be coming home tonight. The assembly will include a farewell to Mr. Baumann who is retiring, as well as mention of those other staff and students who are heading elsewhere for September.
SUMMER – the school is closed over the summer, except for the Daycare. If you need to reach someone over the summer – please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will monitor my email as I am able.
We have had an incredible year here at GMPS and I am so proud of everything we have accomplished, both individually and collectively. Our Mavericks are truly amazing kids with so many strengths and talents. I look forward to next year and all that we will be up to! Thank you to everyone!
Today was the perfect day for the final Dance A Thon prize! The view is incredible and the students kept me busy! I have had class sets of letters to reply to, a class set of jokes, beads to make a necklace, and all other sorts of things sent up in a bucket… Our Regional Track and Field competitors have a great day for their track meet and are apparently doing quite well!
We took a fantastic whole school picture that we will print and add to the Front Foyer.
I only wish that the delivery of this final prize meant the delivery of the playground! As you can probably tell- we were further delayed due to weather. Our playground will now arrive this summer. As they prep to dig, I will blog.
Thanks to all of the students who made today so memorable for me. Thank you again GMPS families for your support of our initiatives. GO MAVERICKS!
The days are so full lately that time is passing too quickly! There have been pictures to post and things to share that I have missed, so I apologize- here we go!
Tomorrow is our Regional Track event so we wish our Mavericks well as they compete!
Thursday is a staff appreciation brunch hosted by School Council (flyer attached). Thank you!
Tomorrow I am going to make good on my promise from the dance a thon, so look up when you drop off tomorrow…
Graduation Ticket requests are DUE TOMORROW!!!
Last week there were a few more swan lake photos to share
Our students in grades 2/4/7 are all getting the opportunity to go to the Swan Lake Outdoor Education Centre this week. On Tuesday, some of our 7’s had the chance to build and insulate shelters! Our 2’s and 4’s spent time identifying and classifying. Have a look at their work,
Thank you to our 2/3 class and the before and aftercare kids in that class who have worked hard to weed and plant in our gardens. The pictures won’t upload BUT you can come and see their work in person. We are so grateful to have a welcoming entrance. Come and sit on our benches and enjoy the view.
Our kids have had a fantastic day at the Track and Field Area Meet. The events are running behind but we are hopeful that we will only be a little bit late….meaning instead of boarding the bus at 4:30, we will board by 4:45. Depending on traffic, we should be home by 5:30 at the latest. Please pick up your child(ren) from the bus loop at German Mills by then. If your child gets a sub sandwich on Tuesdays, they will be here for you or they can come tomorrow and get them from the office. We will be throwing out the leftovers after lunch tomorrow.
Thank you! GO MAVERICKS!
