Thank you!

Thank you for a great evening!  We had a wonderful turnout at the BBQ and curriculum night – so nice to see our families and welcome you into the school.  Although the weather didn’t turn out to be outside for dinner, it was still great to be together.  The staff were encouraged by the many conversations they had with each family – and we apologize to the grades 4-6 parents for the standing room only…next year we will select a larger space!

Thank you to our trustee, Susan Geller for joining us and taking the time to speak with so many people.  We didn’t get a ribbon cutting photo at the playground, but we did take a selfie with the touchstone for twitter @GermanMillsPS.

Please remember to keep in touch and stay connected!  We look forward to seeing you at Parent Teacher Interviews (see the calendar tab at the top of the Blog for dates) and for anyone interested in joining us at council on October 23rd.

Have a great rest of your evening!

They Ran…and survived the elements!

Congratulations to our Cross Country Team who had an amazing race day!  It was cold and wet but they persevered and did their best.  We have a number of runners who are advancing to the Regional races- way to go Ethan, Emmett, Joshua, Dimitri, Vanessa, Ryan, Marek, Sarah, and Mandy!

TONIGHT! Schedule and Details for our evening together

Our Curriculum Night and BBQ is tonight!  We are so excited to welcome our families into the school to see some of the amazing things we are up to.  The weather is not cooperating so we will be getting our food outside and there will be tables and mats available to eat at/on in the gym.  Please enjoy some time together at the Playground as well…though we won’t formally ‘cut the ribbon’…we can enjoy it as a community.

Program:

  • 5-6 pm BBQ
  • 6-6:15 in the gym with Ms. Cameron and our Trustee Susan Gellar
  • 6:20 – 7:15 Classroom visits and presentations
    • 6:20-6:40 Formal presentation for grade 7 & 8 parents in the library
    • 6:20-6:40 Formal presentation for Kindergarten parents in the Kindy rooms
    • 6:45- 7:00 Formal presentation for grades 4-6 parents in room  210
    • 6:20-7:00 Grades 1-3 will be having ongoing presentations in the respective classrooms

Please remember that tonight is an opportunity to see the classes and meet the teacher, it is not an individual interview for each child.  If you have specific questions or concerns, please set up a time to speak with your child’s teacher at a later date.  Thank you!

Cross Country Tomorrow

Tomorrow we are sending over 80 Mavericks to represent us in the Area Cross Country Meet.  AMAZING!

Our runners will be leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning before the end of the school day.  They will be running in the rain or the shine, so please send them properly dressed – an extra pair of shoes and dry socks, as well as rain gear!  If there is any sign of lightening (not currently in the forecast) they will cancel the events.  Updates will be on the blog as needed.

Pizza lunch is tomorrow and the runners will get thier pizza when they return to school around 2:30 p.m.

The event is being held at the Concord Park – off of Dufferin, south of 407, behind the Canadian Tire.  Running Events commence at 10a.m. and start with the youngest group.

GO MAVERICKS!!
