Boys Basketball

Last night the intermediate boys’ basketball team competed in the area finals at Woodland.  The Mavericks were slated to play the first game of a knockout style tournament against the reigning champions, Willowbrook.

The Mavericks had a slow start to the game and found themselves down by 4 at the half.  It could have been worse, but the one consistency in this team is their commitment to defense.

In the second half, the offense started to heat up.  Every player was contributing in some way, shape or form.  The momentum started to shift and the Mavericks began to take the lead.  With under a minute to go, the Mavs hit multiple clutch free throws that sealed the deal and secured a win against Willowbrook.

In the end, the Mavericks finished in a respectable third place, beating Woodland on home court.  Congratulations to the Mavericks for an impressive season and area tournament.
