Music Alive!

On March 7th, 2018, our senior band travelled to St. Elizabeth Catholic High School for the Music Alive Festival where we performed two unique and contrasting pieces. In our first piece, Big Raven by Vince Gassi, the band members executed a lovely beginning with original bird sounds and awe-inspiring percussion. We completed Big Raven with a synchronized finale and eminent cymbals. Our second piece, Clarinet Hoedown by John Moss, impressed our adjudicator with the staccato patterns and our compelling clarinets. Of course this would never be possible without our outstanding conductor and music director, Mrs. Arnokouros. We are proud to acknowledge that this year’s senior band received a SILVER PLUS rating at the festival.  ~Fiona and Aliana

Music Alive

Congratulations to this year’s Senior Band for playing beautifully and for achieving a Silver Plus rating!! I am so proud to have been a part of the music learning for these hard working students! I can’t wait for the community to hear them play at our spring concert.

In case you were wondering what Silver Plus means….this year Music Alive 2018’s award designations will no longer  include a Platinum rating. It will simply be:  GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE.  This aligns directly with current MusicFest Canada adjudication standards. (Gold and Silver Plus rated bands qualify for the Nationals)

A Gold Standard signifies that a soloist/ensemble has achieved excellence in all facets of their performance.

A Silver Standard signifies that a soloist/ensemble is demonstrating a high standard of musical performance.

A Bronze Standard signifies a competent quality of performance with latitude for improvement.

Our junior band will have their opportunity on Tuesday, March 27th!  (Please note the change in date for the Junior band)
